Not good advise, to conclude that its OK for lite to be on and to drive car miles from home, wherever, for years, if 14.0 measured at battery. This 99 line post for help on a likely simple problem is off track now, I repeat: It is prudent to take 2 minutes to pull the brushes on a 99, and or as you suggest to take 5 minutes to clean grounds. Cleaning grounds on any vehicle is good and IS general 100% good advice for any vehicle. You are likely remembering or confusing your fustration as you spent 3-400.00 on throwing parts at a "idiot Lite" problem. Then year later?, you suggest or infer to have found the real problem or took the car to automotive trained individual or professional and mention some ground problem. Think of it again, Would you take any car or this guy's 99, 1000 miles on your 83 900 electrical unique experience? I think not.
