Does the key work in the trunk as well? Your key may be terribly worn and in need of renewal. Removing lock cylinders in the doors is actually quite easy (putting them back in is a "bit" more difficult but not hard). Removing the trunk cylinder is a snap. Unless your ignition cylinder has been changed, all these should match, but the ignition gets the most use and the most abuse. It wears out and will often start to accept just about any saab key out there. The doors, on the other hand, still want the real deal. Take the trunk cylinder to a lock smith and get a quick replacement. If that works, call a dealership and they will ask for the numbers on the side of the cylinder. They can then have some decent steel keys made for you and shipped(2) for around 20 bucks last I checked. I dont' know if you have a wagonback or a sedan. The sedan is simplest for the cylinder removal but after you have the inside cover off the hatch you'll see the two screws that need to be removed to take out the cylinder...really a piece of cake.
