I'll assume this is a 1985cc B engine. The clearance is measured at the tensioner not the guides.
If it's a ratchet type sleeve, insert the spring and sleeve into the rubbing block plunger. Using an allen key turn the sleeve all the way in. It will stay in the plunger. Don't push on the sleeve or it will shoot out. Have ready a cable tie or strong thin wire long enough to go around the tensioner body and the rubbing block. Fit the rubbing block assembly into the tensioner body. Push it all the way in. Do not allow it to push out. Put the cable tie around the body and rubbing block so it holds the rubbing block in place. The rubbing block should be fully into the body. Install the chain and tensioner. Get the timing marks lined up. Adjust the chain guide to remove the slack from the chain and mildly tighten the guide. Rotate the engine a turn in its normal direction. Adjust the chain guide again to remove slack. Cut and remove the cable tie. The rubbing block should move out a bit. The clearance should be between .02 - .06 in (.5 - 1.5mm). Adjust by carefully adjusting the guide. Spin the engine between adjustments. The gap becomes too wide you will have to start all over again as the plunger will not push back in.
