Hmmm--a loose plug wire or loose coil wiring could cause that. On acceleration, the slight movement of the motor under load could be enough to tug at the coil wire connection. Also, I had a similar miss many years ago caused by a clogged fuel filter causing low fuel pressure--are you sure the fuel pump is OK, the filters are clean, the float is high enough, and the accel pump in the carb is working properly?
