Just woke from a nice after-lunch nap...
The balance shaft bearings can be replaced without a machine shop. I have a paper written back in the 80's on how to do it. I can email it to you.
Always, always keep your fan belt a little loose to save the BS bearing!
I just went out to measure- the 3 gauge setup is 7.25" wide and will fit nicely to the left of the steering column, mounted under the dash. I want to keep an eye on the oil pressure. Also the voltage. And I've always wanted to have vacuum gauges. So why not?
