I am currently doing a restoration on a 1967 Saab 96 stroker. It's a real "flintstone special" (no floorboards etc) I am just finishing up the engine. The number one piston had a golf ball size depression in it when I bought the project and was registering 30 lbs of compression in that cylinder (the other two were 120). I replaced it with a used piston, honed the cylinder and the engine is back together. Today ,I will mate the transmission and but the drive train aside while I work on the massive rust which is the body.
Here in Fl we will also have to go to alcohol after the first of the year.Which oil do you recommend to use Bruce ? Also in what mixture. Should I fix the timing /(ie: weld the weights in the distributor) or use the normal mechanical and pneumatic advance. I will use the car very easily and don't plan on any racing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as no one down here even knows what a SAAB two stroke is. I used to own a SAAB bullnose in Colorado when I was 20 years old (64 now) and I loved it ! Can't wait to get her running and pull up to an intersection next to a big "redneck" truck. I know I will probably end up with a wad of chewing tobaco on my hood but to smoke him out will be great !!
Thanks !
