A good careful application of high quality windshield silicone sealer might buy you some time before you have to actually pull the windshield to replace the rubber. I understand it will take off the paint. Jack Ashcraft in Oregon sells a seal kit. You could also look at Restoration Specialties and find an identical style of rubber and order it by the foot and save a bunch of money.
