Thanks to everyone who replied. This 96 project is still very much alive!
Not a LOT, but SOME progress to report. I bought a box of parts from Skandix Germany last March and paid via Paypal in Euros. They are not taking credit cards because they have had some problems. I had no trouble with my order and received what a appear to be quality parts. I ordered mostly rear and front suspension and steering rubber and wear parts and brake wear parts. They were not able to supply Lockheed Front Brake cylinders or even complete caliper assemblies so I would still like to find a source for those. I really only need the Lockheed Cylinders 3243-298 (right) and 3243-299 (left). The Saab P/N's for Front Brake Cylinder Assemblies are 7328461 (right) and 7328453 (left).
If anyone has those I am interested in buying.
Using my parts from Skandix I have rebuilt the entire rear suspension and brakes. I fashioned a steel tow bar and bolted it to the 4 existing holes of the engine bay. I added a magnetic towing light kit and the body shell is now its own trailer, ready to go to the paint shop. The color will be Agave Green. This is an old VW color from 1957-58 and is very close to the color Saab painted their engineering prototype cars like the Toad (extra wide 96 with the 99 drivetrain). My project is not a restoration, it is another Saab Engineering Prototype. Let's just say I am making some "improvements" just as Saab would have, had they continued building the 96.
You have to make your own fun!
