New clutch source? Posted by Reed R [Email] (#1557) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Reed R) on Wed, 10 Apr 2019 21:42:14 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Cross posting this from the Sonett board, as this is really a V4 related post. I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on this purchase, and would love any other info ya'll might have.
If no one has direct knowledge of these RAM clutches, let me know if you'd be interested in me posting pics and info if I go through with the purchase.

While I have the engine and drivetrain out, seems like the perfect time to put in a new clutch.
I've read the older posts about the rivet manufacturing issue with the Sachs discs, but it's unclear whether it has been resolved in the intervening years.
However, in the last few months I've started seeing a new result when looking for clutches. The "RAM Clutches 88818" kit with both the pressure plate and friction disc claims to be a fit for the V4. It's about $100 more than the similar Sachs components, but would be worth it to me if it's higher quality. However, I sure don't want to spend that much more for Sachs components in a nicer box.
Anyone have any experience with this RAM clutch kit, or know if the newer Sachs discs have resolved their issues?
