At least he is on the West Coast.
I had fellow poster Bernie rebuild two transmissions for me. He is located a half-hour North of Pittsburgh which is even further from you than Tom Donney in Ft Dodge, Iowa.
I shipped a completed transmission from Michigan to Baltimore for around $115. Sent it in a large Rubber-Maid Tote, with the lid zip-tied on and ample padding inside.
