The springs for a Classic 900 will go right into a 99. Same springs. Its just that the 99 is an old car and manufacturers donot list the 99 in the applications.
KYB shocks do offer a firm ride. In my experience they tend to seize up over time. A better bet is to find a set of Bilsteins if you can.
