The last time I installed windows was in a 1968 VW bug. This was a few years ago, and I was living in California, so you could go to the corner VW shop, and get any part you needed. Anyway, I started out with fresh rubber gaskets, some string, and detergent. I fitted the rubber seal (gasket) to the window, then inserted the string in the outside channel of the seal, crossing the ends of the string in the channel. Pick up the glass with the window seal on,wet the seal with soapy water, and have a friend hold the glass in position. get in the car, and pull the string in opposite directions pulling slow but steady. If the seal gets stuck, you can use a VERY BLUNT OBJECT to assist the seal. This should work. How ever, if the glass is old, or you have to use a lock chrome strip, don't be proud, go to a glass installer, and have them do it. If it's cold, don't even try to do it yourself. The good part about a glass installer is that if he breaks it, he should replace it. Even pros break one now and then. The older glass gets, the more brittle it becomes. You may have to use some very MILD pressure to get the glass to seat right. Good Luck.
