The problem with used windscreens in the Northeast is that they have all been sandblasted by the sand that the highway departments throw out on icy roads. I know, I had this problem on my first '78 99L. (221,000+ sandblasted miles before it moved to Oregon) I think new ones are available, but not always easy to find. The 99 was only available until 1980 here in the USA, so it has been longer than in other parts of the world.
The 900 windshield is not 2" taller as someone stated, it is totally different. The top and "A" pillars on a 900 are the same as the 99, but the dashboard is deeper and the lower edge of the glass and the slope are different. There is no way to make a 900 windshield work on a 99.
