You're very honest, Justin. A lot of folk get very bullish about racing.
You'll need to get more air into your car for the track in this Oz heat. My EMS is bad enough just thrasing about on the backroads without aircon, let-alone with wearing a helmet!! Maybe cut an extra vent under the front screen?
Tyres - probably the single most important thing after brakes - worth every cent if you get the ones that suit. I ran 195 Firestones on Incas my old 99 and even though they're not super-whizzo tyres they made a 100% improvement in dry road grip. Being new helped too. But the the steering weras out... [deja vu]
Don't let the spectator get to you - at least YOU'RE out there doing it. Anyway, it always looks slower from the side of the track.
In terms of USEFUL (?!) comments, it might be worth trying to copy the things the actual original racers used in terms of tyres and stuff; either tarmac circuits or rough tracks... there were some out here so there must be info about. There's a guy in Melbourne with an original factory racer. Carbs not FI too. 99s are pretty sensitive to heat, I think, and the carb needs to be in tip-top condition and set up properly to run properly out here.
I could of course not have a clue..! :)
