This happens with regularity. The part is very expensive from Saab to replace new so we clean every one that does what yours does.
Remove switch pack by using a small straight screwdriver, place under end of switch pack, pry upwards and the pack will come out. Dissconnect the electrical connector.
Study the back side of the switch and you will notice the backing is assambled and inset to the main housing. Take a sharp knife and pry open the lock tabs that hold the top housing (levers)in. Pry open only to dislodge the lock tabs. Place swithc pack in vertical position, with the levers up, and remove the top. Do it slowly as there are copper rocker connectors that will stay on the board but if turned upside down all will fall on the table. Remove all the rocker copper connectors and place them in a identical pattern as removed. At this point you will see the goo collected inside. Remove the back cover also to expose all electronics.
Wash out with warm soap and water both the levers and the backing. You will find goo also on the electronic unit. Take a tooth brush and clean the contacts. Use a air blower to dry as this will the do the best.
You will find that the contacts look burnt. Take emmory cloth and clean ncontacts. Clean the copper rockers with warm water also where the levers come in contact with the copper rockers.
Reassamble the rockers on the main board. Take di-electric grease and place a dab on each plastis lever tip where the switch lever comes in contact with the rocker. This will make the swithc works like new. It has been our experence that you DO NOT put di electric grease on the copper contacts. Now's time to reassamble.
Hold the assambles board with the rockers level in one hans. In the other hold the top pannel. Try to keep the plastic buttons in the neutral (middle) position and snap the two halves carefully until the lock tabs catch. Move the switches back and forth and you will notice how smooth they work. Install the back cover and you are now readi to connect to the harness. Test prior to poping pack back in console to insure everything works.
On my Saab 9000, the packs are the same function but look different. We were on our way to Minesota when I lowered the window but could not raise the glass. My daughter was driving so I removed it going 80 MPH and installed it and still works great.
Its not that hard. You can do it.
E-mail me at gmdanner@bwn.net and let me know how it worked out.
Best of luck
