I sold someone in Baltimore a good early tank, which she swapped into a later car. I don't see any reason it can't go the other way. The early filler neck (through '68) used a vented cap. The later neck had a sealed cap and the evaporative control system with the charcoal canister in the engine bay. I would use the early filler neck and the vented cap, and adapt the tank vents to work like the single one on the early car. I wouldn't bother with the difficulty of running the ECS lines to the front as I believe they go through the roof area. There's a big neoprene rubber tube between the tank and the filler tube.
