There's no telling what kind of fluid has been used in the system in the past and I never like mixing brands because of compatibility issues. I had a preference for Castrol for years. Years ago Castrol Green was the only thing recommended for Girling systems because Girling used natural rubber in their seals and many other brake fluids would eat the rubber. Back in those days Castrol had a couple of different fluids available, but the Green fluid was a mineral based rather than petroleum based and that was the stuff to use with Girling systems. After they put the power assist booster on the brakes, SAAB switched to a AP-Lockheed (British) clutch master.
If you're loosing fluid, There must be a leak somewhere. Check under the dashboard where the master comes through the firewall. Also pull the boot back on the slave and see if there is fluid under it. If you rebuild/replace either cylinder, it is advisable to repair/replace the other one, too. Any time you fix the weakest part of a hydraulic system, the second weakest will ultimately start leaking. Also check the rubber section of the line between the master and slave. That hose is only crimped onto the metal pipes and they deteriorate with age. They will leak and they will bulge when you pressurize the system. I double-flared the steel lines on either side of the hose and put a brake system hose from my parts stash into the line.
