Aussie 99 Engine Transplant Approval Question

I'm assuming that the late-model 99s with H series engines weren't sold in Australia - please correct me if I'm wrong. Has anyone done an H series conversion on an a 99 here? If so can you tell me what problems, if any, you had getting Transport Department Approval in your State. I've been advised by Queensland Transport that any engine that was offered in the model range is OK, but anything involving structural alterations [like firewall mods for the H series] would require approval ...and they didn't say if that required testing the car to destruction after the mods.
It would be good to build the best 99 possible [most tunable, most economical, most easy to get parts for...] - I'm not afraid of doing the large amount of work involved - but the Transport Dept might make it so difficult as to be impractical.
Any strories or advice to pass on guys?
