engine braking on a front wheel drive car leads to the possibility of wheel lock-up and loss of steering control. With brake use, you have four tire contact patches doing the braking instead of two. With my two strokes in freewheel with hakka snow tires, I could drive into a turn very fast and when I felt the front wheels beginn to lose traction all I had to do was lift off the throttle and the car coasted in freewheel and came out of the skid and went arountd the corne rlike it was on rails.
