I am the original creator of this "Jet Together" idea and plans are for Carolinas SAAB owners to do a weekend in the NC Mountains west of Asheville. The dates are set November 3-4. Charlotte area owners will meet at the Gaston County Visitor's Center at 9: 30 AM that Saturday to caravan to downtown Saluda. Other SAAB owners should coordinate on whatever forum or club website they see fit to caravan.
Our lunch destination is Saluda, NC at The Purple Onion Restaurant. After lunch, if you didn't happen to give your SAAB a workout on the way in, I've got some great backroads that will give your tires, steering assemblies, shocks, suspension and passengers a real lift. We'll be covering some mountain roads south and west of Brevard, portions of the Blue Ridge Parkway, and if enough people want to do it, Tail of the Dragon outside of Deal's Gap in Graham County.
The roads and real estate we'll cover will require an overnight event for you if you go so I'll be giving you some inn, B&Bs and motel choices in the area. Reservations are on your own. This is an opportunity for SAAB owners from across the Carolinas to get together in the mountains for a weekend, see some great sights and take a getaway opportunity.
I know some of you have sport-tuned your vehicles for road-racing. Rest assured when I tell you that some if not most of the roads I have planned are not designed in any manner for road-racing. If you intend to road race, please provide a telephone number so we can contact your relatives to let them know of your untimely demise.
There will be good opportunities for mountain driving and you will get plenty of tire squeal, some lift, some fishing in the rear and perhaps a little gravity cavity air.
