Directions http://www.virclub.com/directions/index.html
There is news that 2 notable Vintage Saab racers will be
at the last VIR (Virginia International Raceway) October
15-17. Steve Church races a 72 Sonnet V/4 and is very
competitive in his class. Steve lives near Richmond and
has raced and autocrosses either his sonnet or 86 900
for seven years now. The Sonnet is a full race car and
it is very well done in a professional manor. The other
entrant (very probable) is Chuck Christ racing and 1960
Saab 93 F two stroker. The 1960 was near the introduction
of the 96 model which had major changes, but the "F"
stands for forward hinge doors, as opposed to rear hinged
suicide doors. Chuck races a lot each season from Florida
to NY to the Midwest, and this orange 93 is always well
prepared and surprisingly very reliable. Both cars are
also very loud. For those who need more info, google VIR
and get directions and entry prices. The track is less
than an hour straight north of Durham, just across the
Virginia border. Thanks Don Wollum.
What: Dyno and saab party
Where: Durham area speed shop
When: Oct 23
Dyno day and general saab party, camping available and
I'm sure there will be food, beer, and general good
cheer as always.
