The New England Saab Owners Gathering in Sturbridge, Massachusetts
The SOG is fast approaching – the weekend of June 27-29 is just around the corner. This year’s event is in Sturbridge, Massachusetts, and it’s likely that attendance will far exceed the two previous SOGs given the central location and proximity to Boston. Also, it’s not certain that the Sturbridge Host Hotel – our center of operations so to speak – will have rooms available for much longer. If you’re planning on staying at the Hotel, you might want to call now, and get a reservation. Take a look at http://www.sturbridgehosthotel.com - or simply call them for info or reservations 1-508-347-7393. (I took the liberty of asking rates for rooms for that weekend if I were not with NESA, and they were alarmingly higher – and that was without any meals or the support staff that the Hotel provides us. So – even if the rates seem steep, we’re getting a heck of a deal here.)
Just about all of the info from the event brochure is now available on our website in pdf format at http://www.nesaab.org. If you need another brochure, or never received one in the first place, give us a holler at secretary@nesaab.org, and we’ll get one out to you. If you know anyone who’s not on our mailing list who might be interested in a brochure or future info, send us his or her contact info. There is strength in numbers! If you don’t think your form will make it in in time, please email us if you want any meals ASAP.

Directions: Sturbridge, Massachusetts, is located near the intersection of Interstate 84 and the Massachusetts Turnpike (Interstate 90). The Sturbridge Host Hotel is located on Route 20 West. From the North East & West, take the Massachusetts Turnpike (Interstate 90) to Exit 9, then first right after tolls onto Route 20 west. From the South, take either Interstate 84(Exit 3B) or Route 131 to Route 20 West. The hotel driveway is located on the right, less than one-quarter mile from the first set of traffic lights.
To get to Old Sturbridge Village for the Concours Saturday morning, stay on Route 20 west past the Hotel, staying in the right-hand lane, and turn right into the entrance for OSV. Follow the signs to the Tavern, and as you pull into the parking area, you should see us set up over on the far right in the large open space. If you get lost you can call us at 603-398-9074 or 207-450-8406.

The SOG is the perfect venue for swapping parts. Dig into the corners of your garage and dust off some of those treasures from the past. Members have been generous enough in the past to contribute items for our raffle and auction. The SOG is one of the club’s sole means of raising funds outside of memberships, so if you’re feeling generous, please consider helping us out in this regard again.
We also can also use poster frames for the growing collection of SOG posters and photos, so if you have an old frame with intact glass or unscratched plastic, email us and we’ll go from there.
We’ll need a few volunteers to help clean up the Concours area afterwards. We hate to ask for volunteers (sort of defeats the purpose of volunteerism). If you can help in this regard, please just take a few moments after the Concours to make sure we leave the area at least as clean as we found it. Thanks!!

Using the saabnet.com Bulletin Board
NESA members have a way of communicating and keeping up to date instantly through the NESA Bulletin Board on The Saab Network (http://www.saabnet.com). For example, if someone wanted to cut the cost of his or her hotel reservation by finding a roommate, the Bulletin Board is the way to go. Want to start a caravan from Boston to Sturbridge Friday afternoon? Need some advice on local service stations? Need someone to check out a car for you, or help out wrenching on a weekend? Try the BB. Check it out – you might be surprised by all the topics. We hope this will continue to be a convenient forum for New England Saabers to share information and social events.

Factory service manuals, owner’s manuals, dealer brochures, etc.
NESA has a growing number of factory service manuals, owner’s manuals, and dealer brochures available for your personal use. These mostly relate to the older Saabs – the 2-strokes, V4s, 99s, and early 900s. If you have a project and could use some help from a chapter out of a service manual, let us know. Copying is fairly cheap – actually it’s the spare time to do it that’s at a premium. But maybe we can help. Similarly, until you find that year-specific owners manual or dealer brochure, we may be able to provide you with a copy. Feel free to email secretary@nesaab.org or drop us a note at our mailing address. In a similar vein, if you have any material of this type that you’d like to donate to the club, we’d be more than happy to accept it. If we have numerous copies of an item, we might raffle off the worst condition version at our annual SOG, and this would help the club as well. Let us know how we can make this “lending library” work for you.

As always, we are looking for volunteers to help with any of these events, hosts for weekend wrenching parties and any other additions to help fill up the calendar. All events and dates a tentative unless otherwise noted. Just a reminder, the officers meet the first Thursday of every month, 7pm, at the Bertucci's on Amherst Street in Nashua, NH. All are welcome to join us!

If you spot any errors, omissions, or have additional items or changes, please reply to secretary@nesaab.org with the details - we welcome feedback!! Thanks!
