Hey Kids,
We're really looking forward to seeing and chatting with fellow Saab geeks @SOG'03. It sounds like it will be even better, and we had a blast the previous 2. So I wanted to thank (in advance) those who have put their time and labor into setting it all up : Muchas Gracias. Just wanted you to know that your efforts are greatly appreciated by us, the attending rabble.
To those attending from the North, some advice which should prove fruitful : take 290 through Worcester (instead of 495 to Mass. Pike) and save 30 miles, plus tolls. Fairly obvious if you can read a map - but my other half can't, so I don't want to make any assumptions. ;) But even more important, my advice is to avoid the Mass. Pike altogether (or get off one exit early if coming out the Pike) : getting on the Pike from 290 can be a long wait, but the REAL hang-up - which usually happens MOST summer Friday evenings - is the back-up at the US 84 exit. I've seen that back up for miles, even though there are 2 exit lanes off of the Pike, and more lanes before the toll booths, which are over a mile away. I always take Rte 20 West instead of the Mass. Pike when I am heading for US 84. It's the next exit past the Mass. Pike entrance on 290. It's 10 miles on the Pike, about 13.5 via Rte 20 West. And Rte 20 is 2 lanes (for the most part) all the way to its junction with Rte 84. That's for the MOST part : a couple places it squeezes down to one lane, and there are a few traffic lights. BUT it sure beats the 45 minutes I've waited in line trying to get off the Pike onto US 84, just to pay the $.50 toll for 10 crummy miles. Your clutch leg will thank ye.
This is my own Super-Double-Secret-Shortcut, so I'm trustin' yas not to blab it to others of non-Saab lineage.
See ya'll there.
