The way it works with superseded parts is that you can always fit a newer partnumber to an older car as in the case with this oil pan. That does not always mean you can take an older cars part and install it on a newer car.
This is due to that as years go by, they make the newer part fit older models by adding extra holes or brackets or what not and whatever it takes to make them work on that newer car they are made for.
So just because a newer rendition of a part fit many years backwards does not mean the old part fit many years forward because the newer doodads are not even present in that older part.
So as far as Saab is concerned, you can take an oil pan from a 2010-11 9-5 V6 and install it on a 2006 9-3 V6 but you might not be able to do it the other way around.
So the only way to find out is if someone already have done it or you try yourself.
I don't have the right answer.
