Time to take a brake. Oops! I mean "break". Andy, as long as we're splitting hairs about what the part is called, Saab calls it the "control unit" for the "Parking brake system, Electric". Your shop did its homework in finding that the same control unit is used in some other Epsilon II (like the Buick LaCrosse/Regal) vehicles as well as the Chevy Volt, Cadillac SRX and Saab 9-4X. Saab Parts NA charges around $1000 for the part (check Jim Ellis Saab's website) versus the GM list price of $375 or thereabouts. GM Parts Direct sells it for a little under $200. Saab Parts NA offers a two year warranty on parts purchased through them but when you're paying four or five times as much for the same part it just don't make much sense, do it?
