Yes it is possible to do. you need to remove the oil pan undo the bolts holding the cap and take out the 2 half moon bearings (this is tricky) you should replace with standard size bearings not oversized since you did not grind the crank. You do not mention if you have a low oil pressure problem wich is a clear indication of rod bearing failure. I beleive you do not have a rod bearing problem.
There used to be a way to check for rod knock by removing the electrical wire to each cylinder at a time if the noise reduces it is rod bearing knock if the noise reduces. if it is a crank knock it would reduce when you remove the wires from 2 cylinders close to each other (not at the same time).
It is very likely that you have a sticking valve lifter or a loose spark plug but not a damaged rod bearing.
