I have a theory on why DI cassettes fail.
This engine management system doesn't have a knock sensor. It measures ionization at the spark plug (or sumpin like that) to determine pre-ignition and then manages timing to deal with it.
Could it be that running poor or low octane fuel will cause the knock sensing circuitry to work overtime and overheat? I seem to remember seeing an overheated area in the epoxy that the circuitry is potted in.
it sure would be nice if somebody came up with a replacement for the DI that separated the coil paks and the circuitry.
Any other theories?
