shift linkage bushing replacement DIY? Posted by Saabstory [Email] (#1919) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Saabstory) on Sun, 16 May 2004 19:37:00 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I followed the advice of some of you when my 96 900's shifter got stuck and I couldn't get the key out. There was a chewed up whit bushing near the engine from the shift linkage allowing to much slop. I was able to salvage the twisted fingers and slide it back in place. It works fine for now. I would like to put a new bushing in there. Is this a DIY? How can I slide the shift rod toward the rear of the car inorder to install a new bushing? Any tips or tricks are much appreciated. I don't want to spend a couple of hundred dollars on a linkage upgrade as I'am nearing retiring the car. Thanks
