Hints on securing loads on roof of NG900

I had to transport a canoe this morning, so I looked for appropriate hooks and etc. under the bumpers to secure it. Unfortunately, not great.
Solution Rear: Open the hatch, secure ropes to cargo tie-downs on each side of cargo area. Close hatch and tie down the rear of the canoe (1 on each side to provide lateral stability).
Solution Front: (the really cool solution). Real simple. Open the hood and remove the grille. This allows you to wrap your rope right around the front bumper! Close the hood, secure the front of the canoe and you're done. Hold on, not quite. I wrapped a rope around the bumper on both sides (just inside of the headlights) and placed a piece of wood between them. I duct-taped the ropes to each end of the wood and now they are spaced nicely to provide lateral stability.
I'll try to post photos, but this provided a complete solution to the problem.
Cheers all,
Paul N.
