High speed handling Posted by Peter [Email] (#2804) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Peter) on Wed, 8 Dec 2004 10:38:36 In Reply to: Re: Since the members gallery is still down...., bully707 [Profile/Gallery] , Wed, 8 Dec 2004 01:28:05 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I used to drive the car fast now and then on a couple roads in Wisconsin and Illinois where I felt reasonably safe, and did not expect radar traps. I agree the high speed handling and stability was exceptional for 4-dr sedan.
On the other hand cornering while accelerating sharply at lower speeds was not so good. What you might experience at 30-40 mph on a tight freeway entrance ramp if you really punch it.
Not sure if you would call that torque steer exactly... more like loss of traction due to body roll (?) Recently I drove a 2001 9-3 w. 15-inch rims, and it was the same, or worse. You almost have the impression the back is lifting up or something like that... have not tried to duplicate it since the last tire change.
