I just ran my car for a week this way. The rear muffler rusted out right where it attaches to the mid muffler, so there was nothing connected after the mid muffler. The results.
I never had to deal with finding a radio station, because there is no way to hear it over the engine.
The car vibrated so much that I always thought my Cell was vibrating in my pocket. I felt real popular.
Didn’t have to try to make conversation with my passengers, they couldn’t hear me.
I will admit that it was fun running through the gear with the loud exhaust. But I thought I was going to loose my mind listening to the constant drone on the highway. It wasn’t bad for short trips but listening to it for 2 hours just isn’t fun. Luckily I didn’t run into any law enforcement, but I doubt they would be very happy if I had gotten pulled over. And most importantly, the ladies just weren’t impressed.
I would recommend running the car for a day without a rear muffler before taking the effort to make the straight pipe. I would be very surprised if you can deal with the amount of noise on a regular basis. Once I got my new muffler on, It was like having a brand new car, it felt so much smoother and refined. And it was nice to listen to the radio again.
