After reading this, I called my dealer re applicability to my 1999 9-3 base convertible. They acknowledged the SI bulletin, indicated that it requires the better part of a day, due to having to disassemble the dashboard. They did state that knob has to actually break off before they can perform the service covered by the the SI bulletin. I guess prevention is not part of the program. My climate control knob is stiff in its movement (they replaced the component which includes the two knobs last year), but haven't yet had it break off. Does anyone know whether it's necesary for the knob to break off before the dealer is authorized to perform this service, os is this up to the dealer's discretion?
