I know for a fact that the 2000 9-3 has a Pioneer head unit. Saab used to use Clarion, but switched to Pioneer. I don't know if they still use the Pioneer in the 2001 models.
The Pioneer head unit in the 2000 models will only work with the Pioneer CD changer sold by Saab. It uses a special communication channel to communicate with the head unit and the controls in the steering wheel. Pioneer does not sell an aftermarket CD changer with those features needed to integrate with the head unit. Maybe they will in the future.
Clarion does make an aftermarket CD changer that works with the Clarion head unit in the older 9-3 and NG900 models.
