Good Idea on the junkyard Bruce, but as I already had the raw plug, I soldered it myself. Didn't turn out to be as hard as I thought.
Now the bad news. I used Stinger Hyper Series 4 channel twisted pair 20 foot cables (SHYP420). Completed the wiring without much drama. Tested for continuity, and found that one of my positive speaker wires connected to the ground somewhere. I had no crossed wires, but triple checked that nothing was touching anyway. I cut the cable about a foot up from my din plug, and that wire was still touching a black wire somewhere. I cut the other end, before the RCA connectors, and finally got all wires isolated from each other. Was going to resolder the RCA ends and plug on, but found that the 2 black gnd wires on one set of RCA plugs touched, while another pair did not. Also found a couple of cuts in some of the other wires when I stripped the insulation off. (Not from my knife either)
Alas, the quality of these cables was definitely poor, and I recommend against them.
