Yes, it CAN be done. Our 1999 9-3 convertible is set up so that both doors unlock with one push of the remote button. Also, it is set so that BOTH doors unlock when the key is removed from the ignition switch. The service director at the dealership told me that a factory revision/update to the Tech II software removed some of these features, but they were able to revert to the older version software somehow, or add those features back in. Don't know whether that's for real, but the guy has been very helpful to me with my car. In any case, our's is set up so both doors unlock with one push of unlock button, and both unlock when the key is removed from the ignition.
Good luck!
