I purchased a 2000 VW Jetta VR6 5 speed loaded! Great car initially but within 6 months and 5K mi. I'd logged over a month in the shop for one problem after another; some minor, some not. About to arbitrate, the dealer which also sells Saabs offered me a great deal on a 2000 9.3SE demo w/ only 5K mi. I felt like I was trading up, for a more quality vehicle and yes more expensive. However, while my Saab actually has less bells and whistles than my Jetta did, it's now been in the shop 3 times in 2 mos. for broken dash climate control knobs, broken door handle, faulty warnings from computer about needing service, doors which unlock w/ key fob but are difficult to open and stick (not an alignment issue), and locks which refuse to unlock from the inside w/ lock button so must be manually unlocked. Always felt like Saab owners were smarter than the average bears, but am now wondering how smart I was. Used to drive strictly American made cars and more recently trucks. While driving wasn't fun, I'd never experienced this level of product failures. Any words of encouragement from you loyal owners? PS. Dealership, while very courteous, has only remedied problems about 60% of the time.
