I have been using the griot's garage headlight protector film for some seven or eight years. I have had no problems at all. I currently have the headlight protector film on my headlights, fog lights, and turn signal lens of my 1998 900SET. I used the older .040" thick type of protective film on my 1984 Saab 900 when I lived in Fort Collins, Colorado with no problems at all.
I understand that there used to be a very heavy (maybe .080-.100" thick) protective film that was being used. It did cause some thermal problems, mainly with fog lights as they have a lot of heat in a small area. Griot's headlight protector film is only .023" thick so should be no problems. I have used this new .023" film and the older .040" thick film with no problems.
