I looked at the owner's manual and found that the schedule suggests people to change oil for every 10,000 miles. Should it be every 3000 miles ?

Mine is a base 9-3 so there is no free scheduled maintainence for me. The dealer told me I can prepaid $600 something for it. Is it worth or I should take the car somewhere else for maintainence service (of course I will bring the car back for warranty services) ?

The manual says the car should use either semi-syntheic or synthetic motor oil ? Does it mean regular oil from Wal-mart is not good ? Thanks.
