If your wiper is skipping a lot it's probably because it's slightly loose... If you flip up the metal cover at the base of the wiper (at the pivot point) you will see a 10 MM nut. Tighten it down.
The other obvious thing to do is to clean the glass or replace the wiper blade but since this is a relatively new car that doesn't really apply.
