TESTED - Boost Controller on '01 9-3 with auto trans > Posted by Keith [Email] (#1462) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Keith) on Thu, 5 Apr 2001 10:48:18 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Well, I threw the Dawes boost controller in the '01 loaner last night. The engine set up is much different than my 1999 5 speed. The '01 had a MAF in the intake where the '99 does not. Also, the boost control solenoid is located in a different spot and looks different than the one on my car.
I installed the BC the same way, connecting the boost hose from the turbo to the controller and the outlet of the controller to the waste gate actuator.
The results were strange. Sometimes it would boost higher than stock and other times it would boost lower. I adusted the BC even higher to see when the boost cut off would hit but it never did. I may be wrong, but it seems that the ECU senses the extra boost and puts the car in a "limp" mode for a few minutes.
Unfortunately, I did not have a lot of time to play with it so I couldn't experiment too much. The bottom line from my short test is that the results was not as successful as what the BC did to my car.
I hope this info is useful.
