First you should find out the trade in value of your car. If it is lower than your buyout price you should make the leasing company a lower offer. Of course you should estimate the trade in value without the excess miles. The leasing company is most likely going to dispose of the car through a dealer auction. They should be willing to sell you the car at a price better than they will get selling it at auction. If you buy it out you can avoid the mileage charges and sell it yourself, maybe at a higher price.
