ralphus' response was pretty amusing but he raises a good point.

If you are buying a new or almost new car and you drive 20k miles per year, you basically have a little over 2 years worth of factory bumper-bumper warranty.

Your extended warranty would kick in at that point and take you to 100k miles. So... you are paying 1700 bucks for 2.5 years worth of coverage and you have a 200 deductible.

Here is the BIG question. "If you take good care of the car, can you go 50k miles and 2 1/2 years without incurring a minimum of $1900 worth of repairs?"

I think you can go that long without incurring $1900 in costs and that the warranty is a bad deal.

consider these extended warranty scenarios:
Warr---Ded---Total
1 repair = $1700 + 200 = $1900
2 repair = $1700 + 400 = $2100
3 repair = $1700 + 600 = $2300

Whats your peace of mind worth?
