I prefer Griot's Garage Vinyl and Rubber Dressing, myself.
Anyway, a good vinyl protector is just that, a protector. It will contain sunblocks and UV protectors, as well as clean away surafce dirt and add a uniform shine to the vinyl. There should be no petroleum distillates in a vinyl protector. Some even claim to 'feed' the vinyl, to restore the plasticizers, but I don't believe that is chemiclally possible. Unlike the shiney, greasy stuff out there, a good vinyl protector will enhance the uniform appearance of the vinyl but will not require constant reapplication or change the color or surface texture.
