Dear friends,

Let me give a general reply to all your posts sent with regard to the subject:

- chassis: You can't change anything about it. The current 9-3 is built on a 10 years old platform (that of the previous model Opel Vectra/calibra). If you read older posts of this forum, you will notice the problem of (lack of) torsion stiffness.
The S60 has a super stiff newly developed platform. If you make a test drive with both cars (same traject)on curvey roads. The S60 is more stable and direct reacting. Also at high speeds (around 180 km/h) the S60 is more stable.

- Warranty: In the Netherlands all European car makes have 1 year and 100,000 km (whatever comes first) total warranty

- Reliability: The NG900 had severe reliability problems (read this forum). The 9-3 is the car what the NG900 should have been at its introduction in 1994. The 9-5 again is a class better. The 9-3 has still a lot of (more or less) small problems, as you also can read in this forum.
The Volvo S70 is un upgrade of the 850 (like the 9-3 is un upgrade of the NG900). The relaibility of the 850 was higher than that of the NG900. The present S60 is too a large extend similar to the V70 which is already a few years on the market. Both V70 and S60 have very high scores on quality and reliability. Dutch investigation are quite neutral!

- Comfort: The S60 is much more quiet than the 9-3. That is both from my own experience as from comparison in Dutch/German magazins (Db's @ various speeds). The inerior of the 9-3 is too narrow for its class. The NG 9-3 will be significant wider

- Engines and fuel economics: Comparible. Although at high revs (4500 rpm) the Saab engines are more silent (my own experience).

That's about it.

Dutchman
