MOst BMW owners do not buy their cars for their driving dynamics but for to demonstrate to perfect strangers that they can afford to purchase a car that is a relatively poor performer in rain and snow and which also is a poor value when compared to less in-demand brands. These are the jack...es that buy brand name Motrin and Aspirin because they don't want to be perceived of as in need of a bargain generic brand of OTC pain reliever. Pretense and social airs are more important than originalaity and creativity or austere financial management.
This helps to explain why in New England you find so many Swedish Canal Barges with Volvo labels on the roads and why you find so manay SAABs. Those who buyt he barge just need safe reliable transportation whereas those who buy the SAAB need safe reliable transportation with throroughbred blood. To put it simply, the latter group has a pulse and independent thought whereas the rest of the horde is either programmed by what everyone else is buying or only knows how to blindly follow tradition and the mediocrity of the mobocracy.
The SAAB is for the modern traditionalist whereas the BMW is for the nouveau riche in desparate need of external affirmation of their place in the sun. If you drive a SAAB, you already know your place in the sun and require no one else be educated as to that fact.
