...my own thoughts. More effort seems to go into selling me on how
Euro-hip this designer Maurer is. I don't care one whit about his
sauvé, I'd rather take a look behind the scenes and see just what
kinda chassis and engine development is going on. I wanna see eng-
ineers refusing to be satisfied with "good enough". I wanna see a
bunch of test drivers telling those engineers to get back to work!
Instead I get posed photos of Maurer in locales resembling artist
galleries, leaning fashionably on some sculpture. Well, that's not
what it'll take to sell me a Saab. Perhaps it is the cheaper way to sell cars, "image management". Real engineering takes money and
probably a whole lot of it. I see this approach all the time in my
industry, the "Image is everything" concept. It leads to some poor
decisions. The cynic in me is worried about Saab right now...
