I wouldn't worry about it. Traction control is a VERY good safety feature for rear wheel drive cars, but for front wheel drive vehicles, like yours, the safety advantage is marginal. Traction control on the newer 9-3's helps most with standing starts on wet or icy pavement. It really hurts the car's performance in other respects (accelleration in lower gears) so you might even consider it a safety liability in certain situations. If I had traction control on my viggen, I'd turn it off every time I got in the car.
Have you been to the flight academy yet? The instructors there will let you drive viggen's with and without traction control to let you see the difference for yourself. It's pretty dramatic, and after comparing the two, no one in my class said they would ever want it. They will also teach you how to pull a front wheel drive car out of a spin using the throttle - one of the most important things for a Saab driver to know, IMO.
