for the NG900 and 9-3 you need to use a selfpowered modulite adapter. You car has a designed system that tells you when a bulb is burned out. If you use straight wiring it will srew up or potentially damage the system.
I used this neat adapter that I got from etrailer.com, it cost about $55 dollars. This thing takes the signals from the lights but draws current from the battery making everything still work. Installation took me about 2.5 hours, the big trick is to run a fused power wire from the battery, weave it through the interior and to the rear light. Once that was done all that was required was to hook up 4-5 wires with easy to use connectors.
I tucked mine next to the right rear light assy behind the little access door. I mounted it to one of the studs that holds the light assembly on. When I need to use the trailer I just open the door and pull out the trailer harness connector. It works flawlessly!
I also got by drawtie trailer hitch from etrailer, the cost for the hitch, reciever, ball, and modulite adapter was about $180 delivered which is less than half of what SAAB will charge you.
