I found an auto parts store and the only clay bar they had was MacGuire's (I think that was it) Quick Clay with detailing spray as lubricant.
So I tried that... and it made a huge mess and didn't do anything at all to the paint I wanted off. Then I couldn't get the mess is made off - so I used WD-40 - that also didn't remove the paint, but it got the rest VERY clean - that stuff is great.
The paint on my car looks like some sort of enamel - it is on there pretty solid unfortunately. It looks like the silver metallic paint that they put on fire hydrants here.
I guess the next step is getting the frickin' hood repainted and finding out what that will cost. and I have no idea if my insurance covers vandalism or not, never had to use any of it before.
I wish I knew where exactly it happened, then I'd go back and have some choice words for the person, as well as a request for them to pay for the damage.
I went by the house near me that I parked on (a different spot due to street sweeping) - they were having rennovation done to the house and there were painters there, so I thougth for sure it was from there, but I couldn't see anything there that was painted metallic silver like that... other than my hood.
oh well, off I go to sulk and brood. :)
