See my post above on my just-completed and fantastic factory delivery Euro road trip. I got the additional IDS military/diplomatic price concession, but the more expensive regular program often includes two United/SAS plane tickets from your city to Goteborg, a wash situation on the price unless you are an airline or military person who can fly over for free. SAAB also has occasional concession coupons at the factory delivery center for a half price ticket Stena line ferries out of Sweden. The new bridge from Malmo to Copenhagen is an alternative, with a fairly stiff toll, and then out to Germany on the short Danish ferry or other bridges via Jutland and Schleswig-Holstein. Budget about $80 for ferry fares or bridge tolls to get to Germany. The car ticket on the ferry usually includes up to four passengers free. The value is there on European delivery, particularly when compared to renting a comparable car in Europe. The only issue is SAAB's old bugaboo, initial depreciation. I think I could sell my car in Honolulu for just about what I paid for it with the IDS discounts and still have had 2 months of travel in Europe. All in all, a decent financial situation, with a fabulous driving experience. Shippin gis fast if you plan your dropoff time to coordinate with a sailing, so delivery to the East Coast could be as short as 10-14 days.
